Let’s PLAY! Getting innovative with wellbeing

Rachel Arkle

It’s finally happening! The noise around wellbeing is creating a movement; a movement of enthusiasts focused on making wellbeing a core part of business strategy. Driven by risks, values and a hunger for higher performance, a handful of innovative companies are getting bolder in their approach and confidently placing wellbeing at the heart of everything they do.

At Yoke we believe it’s critical for everyone, no matter what stage you’re at, to reflect on what these pioneers are up to, what works for them and what doesn’t, and figuring out how such examples could work for you.

Sadly, in our culture of busy-ness, although this sounds like a great idea, very few of us take the time to do it. This is a something Yoke heard again and again, from both clients and our internal team. How do I commit to getting innovative and sharing best practice when I have no time to do so?

So in order to address this conundrum, Yoke contemplated how we could leverage our position to best support this reality. What we came up with was our very own Wellbeing Lab! Launched last month we are working with a small community of curious and voluntary workers, to test out ideas outside of a contractual relationship. For us this feels a neutral, safe and innovative way to hypothesis and refine propositions before going to market. It is also a healthy place to tackle tensions that arise during our client projects, to ensure we develop iteratively for the benefit of our whole community.

To bring this to life, an couple of hot topics on our hypothesis list include:

– Does gender diversity affect wellbeing?

– What is the best way to link wellbeing and performance?

– What are the generational differences with wellbeing?

This is a huge and important development for Yoke. Within a playful lens we want to responsibly understand what best practice really means. We want to challenge the “one hit wonder,” blanket roll out approaches, and do this in a creative and innovative way.

We are doing this to help our community so we look forward to sharing more from via our up and coming blogs soon!

Best
